Hello,
Phantom Canyon should be in great shape that time of year, but I
cannot give any quarantees. If it happens to rain hard or something
silly, the road can get a little rough in a hurry. Last word I had
(last week) the lower 3/4's was excellant and upper part just a little
rough, but they will be out and grade a couple of times before first of
May.
But basically the road is a great drive on gravel, a little slower but
amazing sights etc. With a SUV 4WD you should feel very comfortable,
but 4WD is not necessary.
If you need any other information, feel free to ask.
